“About the recipe:
Honey ginger milk sounds like an easy enough recipe, right? Well, I thought so too, until I tried it out myself and realized something very important: raw ginger added to cold milk will cause the milk to separate.
So, learn from my mistakes and make sure that your milk is scalded and steaming before adding in the ginger! Other than this small piece of advice, the rest of the recipe is a no brainer… Just add a little honey to sweeten this comforting drink to perfection.
About the ingredients:
Not much to say here… just remember to peel your ginger before grating it! Also, the ginger amount in this recipe might be a bit spicy for some, so adjust it according to your tastes if you wish. Other than that, I’m sure you have milk and honey somewhere in your kitchen.
Honey Ginger Milk
Makes 1 serving
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp grated ginger
- Honey to taste
1. In a small saucepan, heat milk until scalded and steaming (small bubbles will appear along the sides of the pan).
2. Add grated ginger to the hot milk and stir to incorporate. Turn off heat and let sit for 2 – 5 minutes, thoroughly steeping the ginger in the milk. Reheat before pouring into a cup, if necessary.
3. To serve, pour into a cup, straining the milk through a fine mesh strainer to remove the ginger. Use the back of a spoon to squeeze any remaining milk out of the grated ginger. Add honey to taste, stirring to dissolve completely.
